  This is the worst Hy-vee I have ever shopped at, unfortunately. I'll start with stating the fact that I am a former Hy-vee employee from another state (Nebraska) of which I worked for between 6-7 years; so I should know what is expected of staff and food quality. In Nebraska's Hy-vee's, exceptional quality and service are the standard. I have experienced neither of these qualities at this Hy-vee. At first observation it appears under-staffed. In the past year I have had to return rotten chicken 4 times within 2 days of purchase. I would say 1 in 3 visits to the register I have received some employees who appear to be exhausted, half asleep, or whom do not have a courtesy assistant. On one occasion a non-cashier woman was checking and refused to bag anyone's groceries. I get it, it sucks and you don't want to do it, but how have the management let this attitude slip? As a former employee I am aware this is unacceptable in any circumstance. The front-end management is often missing and not managing line ques. The yogurt section is comparable with Wal-Mart's. After two visits of the expired products not being replaced, I decided removed all of their expired yogurt cups from the shelf and left them scattered along the bottom cooler so an employee would hopefully remove them; we are talking 2-3 dozen yogurts. My store was the first to open a Market Cafe (Nebraska) in the state and this Hy-vee cannot compare to the shadow of other stores' Market Cafe's. I have eaten at the Market Cafe twice. The first time both me and my partner received food poisoning from the smothered chicken dish, which when ordered, the server remarked "I forget the menu had that dish". The second time our order was not what we asked for and was promptly and professional remade, but still incorrect on the first try. I don't understand what is wrong here. As a former employee I have not seen a Hy-vee with such low quality service or selection. Where I come from, if you want clean and quality meats or produce, you go to Hy-vee only. I am writing this because I am going to bring my business elsewhere from now on and after so many disappointments its become apparent that these are not isolate incidents. I do not blame the employees. As a former Hy-vee employee, I can now recognize when management is failing to uphold corporate standards as these are store-wide issues over the length of a year of shopping. Truly unfortunate.
